Our Freeholder candidates Lillian Burry and Gary Rich, with me, an Average No One....

Did you check your back to make sure there wasn't a knife stuck there after being in such close proximity to Madame Burry?

I would.

I have to say, Lillian Burry has been nothing but polite to me personally since the first time I met her years ago and in general I think she does a decent job as a volunteer, Freeholder, Monmouth Park Task Force member, Ft. Monmouth Task Force member, etc. I think it would be asking a lot to ask her for more. In fact, if I had any complaints, maybe just that I think sometimes she over-extends her volunteerism and I'd rather see her really focused on her role as a Freeholder and finding/cutting waste at the county level and building a truly smaller, more efficient county government; let other people worry about Monmouth Park and/or Ft. Monmouth. But I certainly do thank and welcome her efforts and work on all issues. I think she is well-intentioned and works hard. My opinions about people have been wrong in the past and I'm sure I'll be wrong again in the future but I'll be voting for her again this year.

You have no idea. I have been up close with her a few years back. It was not a good experience. She's vindictive. I have lived in Colts Neck for over a dozen years now, and she takes care of her friends, such as the former mayor who got a great job with absolutely no credentials. She hand picks the people that sit on the TC and she tries to give county jobs out to former TC members. Not a pretty sight.

Bonnie, I mean if we summarize your comment - you are 100% right - I have no idea... about anything :-)

HOWEVER, and again, just opinions from an AverageNoOne....
1) She apparently was pushing for Andrew Lucas to get the line for Freeholder, and he did not. We still have a democracy. Also, she'd have to be vindictive against 2/3rds of the party for not nominating Lucas based on the splits/votes received which doesn't seem likely.
2) I *think* what you mean is that she hand picks the CANDIDATES for TC in Colts Neck? Again, I think we still have a democracy. Maybe she just picks "better" candidates or maybe no one else is really trying hard to run and get elected? I'm sorry I don't know my Colts Neck politics, I tried to buy a house over there once but all I could afford from the front gate, and barely.
3) I *THINK*/*HOPE* that those county appointments are done through the whole board, which is the process as I understand it, and that you say "tries" implies to me that the board doesn't just go along to get along if they are bad appointments. Some line about a democracy might apply here too.

Again, I don't know - just my observations. As I say to anyone, feel free to name names and give me real hard proof of wrong doing and I'm not shy about firing away against bad representatives but from what I can see, Lillian has done well and it would be difficult to find another volunteer as dedicated and capable as she is for Freeholder.
